DESCRIPTION Frame Drum

The frame drum is a percussion instrument that evokes musical dreams of Arabian Nights. Frame drums are also known worldwide and are built in various shapes and with different names.

In different cultures there are different names, designations and variations of the frame drum, such as Tar, Bendir, etc.

The daf also belongs to the family of frame drums, which were originally used for Sufi music in Kurdistan.

Drum frames are made of solid wood. Flat pieces of wood are bent and formed into a ring. These rings are then turned into a frame, into which a tube is integrated, which can later be used to tune the drum. This tube system is helpful for tuning your drum in the shortest possible time and getting the best sound.

The respective frames are covered with matching hides. Fish skin, goatskin, calfskin, or deerskin are available.
